Colic in infants may be caused by a number of influences. Some experts believe that the discomfort caused by ingesting air during feeding is a significant contributing factor and when bottle feeding, this can be stressful and upsetting for both parents and babies. The Advanced Comfort range from tommee tippee closer to nature is specially designed to help prevent colic by reducing air bubbles in the milk and to encourage a good latch-on during feeding. As with all closer to nature bottles and teats they are designed to also allow mothers to switch between bottle and breastfeeding with limited disruption or confusion for baby.

Unique venting system designed to prevent colic

Babies may develop colic symptoms if they take in too much air during feeding. With its unique anti-colic venting system, our Advanced Anti-Colic bottle helps stop air mixing with milk. Air is drawn through the vents in the venting wheel, down the venting tube and out of the star valve into the air space at the base of the bottle, meaning 80% fewer colic symptoms such as wind, reflux and fussing. 

Changes colour if milk is too hot

The venting tube has a heat sensing strip that changes colour if milk is too hot. Dip the tube for 10 seconds to see the feed temperature. A pink strip shows that the feed is too hot. Leave to cool down further before feeding your baby.

Breast-like shaped nipple
The breast-like shaped nipple of our Advanced Anti-Colic Bottles allows babies to latch on easily and supports the transition between breast and bottle. The soft silicone nipple feels closer to skin, and moves, flexes and stretches to mimic a natural breastfeeding action. Making it the ideal baby bottle for breastfed babies.

Advanced Anti-Colic Nipples
Only Tommee Tippee Advanced Anti-Colic nipples will work with Advanced Anti-Colic bottles. Check that your nipple says anti-colic on it. DO NOT USE Closer to Nature nipples on Advanced Anti-Colic bottles. Using the wrong nipple on your Advanced Anti-Colic bottle will reduce the effectiveness of the anti-colic system and may cause your bottles to leak.

Identifying Anti-Colic Nipples
The Anti-Colic Nipples are clearly labeled with an ‘Anti-Colic’ mark on the nipple and the packaging has a teal background to help identify the range. The Advanced Anti-colic nipples are not compatible with Closer to Nature bottles.

Replacement Nipples
The Advanced Anti-Colic Nipples are available in three flow rates, slow, medium and fast. The flow rate can be located on the actual nipple in the form of a number, 1 is slow, 2 is medium and 3 is fast flow. All our nipples are supplied with an age range; this acts as a guide only as every baby is different and will develop at different rates.

Go with the flow
We offer different flow rates to keep up with your growing baby. Every baby is different but as a guide we suggest slow flow for 0+months, medium flow for 3+ months and fast flow for 6+ months. Signs of needed to move up a flow rate are if it takes longer than 20 minutes to finish a bottle, baby tugs at the nipple or falls asleep mid-bottle.

Slow Flow
We suggest slow flow nipples for newborns and for those babies below 3 months. This is just a guide as every baby is different.

Medium Flow
Our medium flow nipple is suggested for babies 3 months plus but remember every baby is different so you may need to change nipples earlier than this guide.

Fast Flow
Our fastest flow rate is our fast flow nipple. This is suggested for babies 6 months plus.
